Los Angeles Jewish Health has been a trusted provider of senior healthcare for over 100 years, offering a wide range of services that prioritize excellence and Jewish values. We serve more than 4,000 seniors across our San Fernando Valley campuses, delivering personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs, from independent living to specialized healthcare programs.

The responsibilities of the Director, Major Gifts include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

Major Gift Fundraising
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects with giving capacity at the five-, six-, and seven-figure levels.
  • Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings, presentations, and solicitation visits with donors and prospects.
  • Prepare compelling proposals, case statements, gift agreements, and donor communications.
  • Secure major gifts in support of annual operations, capital projects, campaign priorities, and endowment growth.

Campaign & Strategic Initiatives
  • Support comprehensive fundraising campaigns and strategic development initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership and campaign volunteers to engage high-capacity donors and community leaders.
  • Assist in campaign planning, prospect strategy, moves management, and donor pipeline development.
  • Coordinate donor recognition opportunities, naming opportunities, and stewardship activities.

Relationship Management
  • Build strong relationships with donors, family foundations, professional advisors, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with executive staff and board members to support donor engagement and solicitations.
  • Ensure timely stewardship, acknowledgment, and follow-up with donors.

Development Operations
  • Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, and fundraising activity within the CRM/database.
  • Track progress toward fundraising goals and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Participate in development events, donor gatherings, and community outreach activities.
  • Stay informed about philanthropy trends, fundraising best practices, and donor engagement strategies.

Education & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with demonstrated success securing major gifts.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and solicit gifts at the leadership and major gift level.
  • Experience working with capital campaigns and donor stewardship preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, volunteers, and board members.
  • Proficiency with donor databases/CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
